GSA Refutes Claims On Cement Price Increment of Ghc 6

The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has refuted claims that suggest that the price of cement is set to increase by GH¢6 on Monday, January 19, 2026.

In a public notice dated Saturday, January 17, the Authority clarified that neither it nor the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee has issued any directive approving a price increment.

“The notice circulating about a GH¢6 price increment of cement on Monday, 19th January, 2026, is false,” the statement said.

The GSA maintained that the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee, which includes the Authority, has not made any decision to adjust cement prices; thus, the general public is urged to disregard the false reportage circulating in the public space.

The GSA further urged the public to exercise caution and avoid acting on unverified information, warning that misinformation could create unnecessary panic in the market. The Authority advised consumers, businesses, and industry stakeholders to rely only on its official communication channels for accurate and timely information.

The statement was signed by the Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority, Prof. George Agyei.
