As part of activities to celebrate the Cedi at 60 years, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has extended an invitation to institutions, organisations, stakeholders, development partners (DPs) and the general public to join the Bank in celebrating the 60 years of the existence of the local currency, the Cedi.
Pursuant to the notice dated 13 May 2025, announcing 60 years of the issuance of the cedi as Ghana’s sole legal tender, which falls on 19th July 2025, the Bank has to provide further information on the programmes and activities lined up for the 60th-anniversary celebrations.
The celebration will be officially launched at the Accra International Conference Centre.
There will also be a stakeholder engagement on cash handling (Keep the cedi clean), currency life cycle Chart (Currency process), and security features (Know the cedi).
In September, the Bank of Ghana will embark on community outreach forums to engage stakeholders in an Interactive dialogue and roadshows named the Cedi Week.
In October, the Bank of Ghana will commence a student engagement and organise essay competitions on the currency-themed CediFest.
