A total of 141 Covid -19 cases have so far been confirmed within the University of Ghana community following the resurgence of the outbreak in the country.
Covid 19 protocols remain active within the University as authorities intensify collaboration to contain spread.
Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS) Dr Franklyn Asiedu Bekoe, during a media engagement in Accra emphasized that Covid-19 has come to stay so there is need for people to learn to live with the disease.
According to him, the disease is an endemic condition so people must maintain the safety protocols to remain safe while encouraging early reporting to health facilities when one is sick.
‘‘We now have about 141 cases and all are mild. You see, one thing you should know is that Covid has come to stay so we need to learn to live with the disease. Now it’s seen as an endemic condition,” he warned.
“Even though we have been recording 1 or two cases elsewhere, the University one is a localized outbreak, so there is need to contain it. Report early to a health facility if you feel unwell. I haven’t stopped washing my hands and observing the Covid-19 protocols so it must be part of every Ghanaian,’’ he cautioned.
Earlier, the Health Services Directorate of the University of Ghana cautioned the University Community of a recent resurgence in COVID-19 cases, with a few suspected and confirmed cases reported in the University’s immediate vicinity.
