The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has appealed to unlicensed lotto operators to get their businesses registered or face its wrath.
NLA boss, Sammi Awuku says his outfit will from this weekend commence an
operation to stringently clamp down on all unlicensed lotto businesses across
the nation.
He revealed in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”
show that the Board of the NLA led by its Chair, Lawyer Gary Nimako, backs him
with power to send out a task force after any operator working without
authorization stressing their actions pose a threat to the lotto industry and
as well, adversely affect their revenues.
“So far, the Board has allowed me to call almost 1000 of our task force
across the country. They will start their work by weekend”, he
promised.
He therefore advised all lotto operators who don’t want their businesses to be
shut down to comply with their directive.
He assured that none will be spared by their task force in conjunction with the
Ghana Revenue Authority.
He warned; “When they come and you don’t have the license to operate,
they close it down.”
