A risk expert with over 15 years of experience in bank risk management, Mr. Tweneboa Kodua Fokuo, has been appointed the Managing Director of the National Investment Bank (NIB).
Until his elevation, he was the Deputy Managing Director of the Bank.
He joined the NIB in 2019 and has since led the bank’s full implementation of
its Enterprise Risk Model (ERM) which had for some time been a great need.
Further, under his leadership, there has been the execution of the ERM Model
and the introduction of best governance practices, creating the necessary
controlled environment required for sound banking.
Prior to joining the National Investment Bank (NIB), Mr. Fokuohad served as the
Head of Credit Risk at First National Bank; a subsidiary of FirstRand Bank
Group of South Africa.
Again, between 2008 and 2016, he worked with Barclays Bank Ghana (now ABSA),
where he rose through the ranks, becoming a Senior Risk Control Manager and
Country Risk Champion.
He holds a BSc. Degree in Natural Resources Management from the Kwame Nkrumah
University of Science and Technology (KNUST); an MBA in Finance from the
University of Wales, UK; and an Advanced Commercial Risk Certificate from the
IFS School of Finance, UK.
His new appointment therefore does not raise any iota of doubt among
stakeholders and staff of the bank because his experiences qualify him as the
one to lead the bank to its new direction.
