"It's been 20 years of
wandering in the wilderness . . . I'm going to cherish this unique
opportunity," says
the newly elected Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Stephen
Ayesu Ntim.
Speaking to delegates in a victory speech at the Accra Sports Stadium, the
'time aso' man expressed his gratitude to his campaign team, and supporters of
the party and pledged to work with the new leadership of the party to win power
in the 2024 general elections.
"The new national
executives will work assiduously to win the 2024 elections," he said.
"I am going to cherish the
chairmanship position," he added.
Mr. Ntim contested George Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah, Stephen Asamoah
Boateng, Gifty Asantewa Ayeh, aka Daavi Ama, Sammy Crabbe, Professor
Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi and Akwasi Osei-Adjei and won by 4014 votes.
The executives were elected by 6,730 delegates at the National Delegates
Conference of the party held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, July 16.
There were a total of 47 aspirants and 20 polling centres.
The winners who will now lead
the party into the 2024 elections are;
1. National Chairman - Mr. Stephen Ntim
2. 1st Vice Chairman- Danquah Smith Buttey
3. 2nd Vice Chairman - Rita Asobayire
4. 3rd Vice Chairman - Alhaji Masawudu Osman
5. General Secretary - Mr. Justin Frimpong Koduah
6. National Organiser - Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B)
7. National Women Organiser - Kate Gyamfua
8. National Nasara Coordinator - Abdul Aziz Haruna Futah
9. National Youth Organiser - Salam Mohammed Mustafa
10. Treasurer - Dr Charles Dwamena
