The National Football League (NFL) as part of its
Africa Touchdown project has engaged some fans in Accra with the goal of
promoting the sport in Africa.
The programme saw some NFL players
reach out to American football fans in Ghana, which was the first of its kind
held on the African continent.
Jeremiah Owusu Koramoah, Ogbonnia
Okoronkwo, Kwity Paye, Uchenna Nwosu, and Osi Umenyiora were some of the NFL’s
stars present to interact with fans.
At an NFL Fan Zone gathering at the
Kempinski Hotel in Accra, fans had the chance to witness first-hand the drills
athletes from the NFL go through.
Fans participated in drills such as
vertical jump, broad jump, 40-yard dash, and quarterback toss to gain an
understanding of NFL athletes’ workouts.
