Management of Ecobank Ghana
is cautioning its numerous loyal customers and the general public to disregard
fraudulent advertising messages airing on both free-to-air Diamond and Soul
television stations selling online loans in the name of the bank.
Mrs. Rita Nana Aba Tsegah, Regional Head, Corporate Communications &
Marketing Ghana and Anglophone West Africa (AWA) Cluster in a copied press
release to Peacefmonline.com said Ecobank Ghana did not sponsor the
advertisement which required a down payment of GHC200 to qualify for a loan
amount between GHC1, 000 and GHC50, 000.
“The fraudulent advertisements boldly display the Ecobank logo alongside a
picture of the bank’s Managing Director. Ecobank wishes to state emphatically
that the said advertisements are not sponsored by the bank.
The Ecobank press release reiterated that Ecobank Ghana was not offering such a
product as was being claimed by the fraudsters in the advertisements.
The release added that the Ecobank Ghana by its nature would not under any
circumstance request customers to make down payments prior to loan
disbursements.
